An AI Chatbot for Your Website

Sunday night, 10:14 pm. Someone is on your website and wants to know whether you have any short-notice appointments. They find no answer, click away and ask your competitor instead. That’s exactly the enquiry a chatbot catches – it answers instantly, collects the contact details, and on Monday morning the lead is sitting in your inbox.

I set up AI chatbots for small businesses. GDPR-compliant, no subscription trap, live in two to four weeks.

01 — What it does

What an AI chatbot does on your website

Answers standard questions — around the clock
Understands plain language, no rigid click menus
Knows your opening hours, services and prices from your own content
Hands complex cases over to you — with the full conversation history
Catches the same 80% of enquiries that come in again and again

That’s the difference from the chatbots you may know – and hate – from insurance hotlines: the old systems could only give pre-written answers to pre-written questions. A modern AI chatbot understands what someone means, even when they type „are you open on Saturday?“ instead of „opening hours“.

I’ll also tell you what it can’t do: it doesn’t replace advice that needs a human touch. Its job is to catch the same 80 % of enquiries so you have time for the other 20 %.

02 — In practice

What small businesses actually use it for

Appointment requests. The bot asks what it's about and when they'd like to come, then puts both into your calendar — or hands it to you to confirm.
The same questions, over and over. Opening hours, directions, prices, delivery times — the questions you answer on the phone for the hundredth time.
Pre-qualifying quote requests. The bot asks for the basics (what? by when? budget?) before the enquiry reaches you. You only get on the phone with people who are a fit.
Taking load off support. Instructions, warranty questions, returns — the bot knows your documentation and answers from it.
Internally. Your team can ask too: „What’s the process for complaints again?“ – the bot searches your internal knowledge instead of someone interrupting a colleague.
*(leer auf DE — leer lassen)*

Five use cases from real projects. Most small businesses only need two or three of them — we set those up first and add the rest later.

In short
The bot takes the routine so you have time for the cases that really need you.
03 — Legally sound

GDPR and the EU AI Act — clean from day one

GDPR: a provider with EU data processing + a data processing agreement
Privacy policy updated to match — all from one place
EU AI Act (from Aug 2026): AI disclosure built in from day one

This is where a serious chatbot parts ways with a hobby widget. Your customers’ conversations are personal data – I work with providers that host in the EU and sign a data processing agreement, and I adapt your privacy policy accordingly. Legal texts for websites are my day job anyway, so you get it all from one place.

Since August 2026 the transparency obligation applies: visitors have to be able to tell clearly that they are writing to an AI – not only when they ask. Sounds trivial, but it will catch a lot of site owners off guard. With me the disclosure is built in from day one.

How it works: in a free 30-minute intro call we work out which enquiries eat the most of your time. After that you get a fixed-price quote. Two to four weeks later the bot is live – and for the first four weeks I fine-tune it free of charge whenever it gets something wrong.

05 — Why me

Why me and not an “AI agency”?

AI agencies have been springing up since 2024. Plenty of them were selling social media packages two years ago. Here's how you tell the difference: ask to see something real. With me, that looks like this:

  • I’ve been building websites and apps for over 12 years – seven of my own apps are in the App Store, and my open-source AI project Bricks MCP is used by developers worldwide.
  • I build your AI integration myself instead of reselling an off-the-shelf widget with a markup. If something goes wrong, you call me – not a hotline.
  • Website, privacy and chatbot come from one place. You don’t need a second contractor who has to get up to speed first.

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI chatbot cost per month?
With me, from €49 a month for operation, updates and the AI usage costs — plus a one-off setup from €1,490. Cloud solutions from the large vendors quickly run to €500–3,000 a month, but they're usually over-specified for a small business.
Can an AI chatbot be GDPR-compliant?
Yes. Three things matter: a provider with EU data processing, a data processing agreement, and an adapted section in your privacy policy. All three are part of my setup.
Does it work with my WordPress website?
Yes — WordPress is my speciality. But the bot works on any website, whatever system runs behind it.
How long does setup take?
Two to four weeks from the intro call to going live. Most of that time goes into training: the bot has to know your content and answer in your tone of voice, not in marketing boilerplate.
What does the EU AI Act require since August 2026?
Websites have to actively tell visitors when they are communicating with an AI. A visible note such as „You are chatting with our AI assistant“ is enough – but it has to be there, otherwise fines are possible. On every bot I set up this is standard.
Does the bot make things up?
With badly configured bots, yes, that's a risk. That's why my setup gets clear guardrails: the bot only answers from your content. If it doesn't know something, it says so honestly and offers to hand you over — instead of guessing.

Let's talk for 30 minutes

Tell me which enquiries cost you the most time. I'll tell you honestly which package solves that — and which one you don't need. You leave the call with a clear plan, not a sales pitch.
