Website Care & WordPress Maintenance
Updates, backups, security and fast changes — so your website stays secure, current and fast. Pay as you go instead of a lock-in contract. Remote worldwide, from Germany (CET).
01 — Why care
The real work starts after launch
Outdated plugins = hack risk no. 1
GDPR requirements keep changing
Small changes come up anyway
Google likes fast, well-kept sites
Downtime costs real money
A website is not a brochure you print once and put away. WordPress and its plugins get updates almost every week — many of them close security holes. Leave them sitting and your site becomes an easy target: outdated plugins are the most common route through which WordPress sites get hacked.
Then there are the small things: a new text, a swapped image, one extra subpage. None of it is dramatic — but it stays undone when nobody is responsible. That is exactly where I come in: I keep your site secure and up to date, and I am there when something needs doing.
02 — Services
What website care includes
01
Updates without regret
I keep WordPress, theme and plugins up to date — tested beforehand, so an update never breaks your site.
02
Daily backups
Automated backups with a real restore test. If something goes wrong, your site is back in minutes.
03
Security & monitoring
Security patches, login protection and uptime monitoring. I often see a problem before you notice it.
04
Small changes
New text, new image, one extra page — done quickly, without a ticket odyssey.
05
Performance check
Keeping an eye on load times and sharpening them up when images or plugins slow your site down.
06
GDPR on the radar
Privacy notices, cookie topics and legal changes — I get in touch when something needs doing.
03 — Models
Two ways — both without a lock-in contract
Pay as you go
Billed transparently
You get in touch when something needs doing. I do it, you pay for the time actually spent. No fixed monthly fee, no dead hours — ideal if your site runs stably and only needs something now and then.
Retainer
from approx. €250 / month
A fixed hourly allowance (included support hours) per month for updates, monitoring and ongoing changes — with a fixed response time (SLA) and changes tested on a staging environment first. Predictable, cheaper per hour, priority when things are urgent. Cancellable at any time — no annual contract.
Both models without a minimum term. You decide what fits you — and you can switch at any time.
What maintenance typically costs on the market
| Website type | Maintenance / month | What is typically included |
|---|---|---|
| Blog / one-pager | €10–50 | Updates, backups, small fixes |
| Company website | €50–250 | + security monitoring, performance check, response time for outages |
| Online shop | €200–800+ | + payment/plugin updates, tests on a staging environment, higher availability |
Typical market ranges — the actual effort depends on scope and standards. With me: pay as you go (you only pay for real work) or as a retainer from approx. €250 / month — both without a minimum term, no forced subscription.

I know your site
If I built your site, I know where everything is. Changes are faster and safer.

In a real emergency I am usually back to you the same day — not in three business days.
Also for sites I did not build
Built somewhere else? No problem — I also take over existing WordPress projects.
Frequently asked questions
What does website care cost?
On the market, WordPress maintenance typically runs at about €10–50 / month (blog/one-pager), €50–250 / month (company website) and €200–800 / month and more (online shop). With me you pay as you go for the time actually spent — or you choose a retainer from approx. €250 / month, both without a minimum term. After a short conversation I will give you an honest estimate.
Do I really need a maintenance contract?
No. That is exactly the difference: there is no minimum term and no forced subscription. You can work purely pay as you go or choose a retainer — and switch or pause at any time.
What happens if I do not have my site maintained?
Usually nothing — until it is something. Outdated plugins are the most common entry point for hacks, and an unpatched security hole can take a site down or put data at risk. Maintenance is the cheap insurance against the expensive worst case.
Can I also maintain my site myself?
Sure. I build on WordPress with Bricks so you can change texts and images yourself. Website care takes over what needs technical knowledge or time — updates, backups, security. You decide where the line is.
Do you also look after sites you did not build?
Yes. I take over existing WordPress sites. To start, I look at the condition — updates, security, backups — and tell you honestly what makes sense and what does not.
How fast do you respond to problems?
In a real emergency — site offline or a security incident — as fast as possible, usually the same day. For normal changes we agree on a realistic timeframe. As a retainer client you have priority.
