What Does a Website Cost?

Honest prices from a working web designer — from a lean one-pager to a full online shop. No website-builder marketing, no hidden costs. Remote worldwide, from Germany (CET). All prices in EUR, net.
01 — The short answer

Between €1,500 and €25,000 — depending on scope

One-pager / landing page: from €1,500
Company website: €3,500–8,000
Online shop: from €10,000
Web app / portal: from €15,000
Binding fixed price after the intro call

A professional website costs somewhere between €1,500 and €25,000 in 2026, depending on scope. A simple one-pager sits in the low four figures, a typical company website with several subpages usually between €3,500 and €8,000, an online shop or a custom portal well above that.

The biggest factor isn’t the number of pages — it’s how much is built individually instead of clicked together from a template. I work with binding fixed prices after a short intro call: no hourly meter, no hidden costs.

02 — Prices by website type

What does each type of website cost?

Website typePriceWhat you get
One-pager / landing page€1,500–3,500One strong page: your offer, trust, contact. Ideal for solo professionals, service businesses and campaigns.
Business website€3,500–8,000Several subpages: home, services, about, contact, optional blog. The standard for most companies.
Large / multilingual website€8,000–15,000Many pages, multiple languages, editorial system, custom templates. For established companies and associations.
Online shop (WooCommerce)€10,000–25,000Products, cart, payment, shipping. Price depends on catalogue size, integrations and processes.
Web app / portalfrom €15,000Login, custom features, database, integrations. When the site has to do more than inform.
03 — Prices by provider

Website builder, freelancer or agency?

ProviderTypical priceWho it’s for
DIY builder (Wix, Squarespace …)€10–40 / monthAnyone starting from zero who wants to build it themselves
Freelancer (like me)€80–110 / h · fixed priceBest value for small and mid-sized companies
Agency€100–180 / hLarge projects with many stakeholders
Premium / specialist agency€150–250 / hBrands with a dedicated budget
For most small and mid-sized companies, a specialist freelancer is the best choice: agency quality without agency overhead — one fixed point of contact instead of a chain of project managers.
04 — What drives the price

What pushes the price up

Custom design instead of a template — +€1,000–4,000
Online shop / WooCommerce — +€3,000–8,000
Booking or appointment system — +€800–2,500
Member / login area — +€1,500–4,000
SEO foundation — +€1,000–3,000
Accessibility (WCAG 2.2 / EAA) — +€500–3,000
Multilingual — +€800–2,500 per language

Two websites with “five pages” can cost €3,000 or €12,000 — the difference is in the features. A custom design built around your brand costs more than an adapted template, but it lasts longer and sets you apart from your competition.

That’s exactly why I quote a price only once I know what the site needs to do — after a short intro call, binding and with no top-ups later.

Rule of thumb
For a typical multi-page company website with a contact form and an SEO foundation, expect €5,000–7,000. Every special feature adds to that.
05 — Ongoing costs

What it costs per month after launch

Domain & hosting — €5–50 / month
Plugins & licences — €100–500 / year
Maintenance & care — €50–300 / month

A website isn’t a one-off purchase, it’s a living system. Domain and hosting cost a few euros a month, professional plugins a few hundred a year. The biggest ongoing item is care — updates, backups, security and small changes.

I look after that on an ongoing basis for the sites I build, so nobody has to think about updates.

Frequently asked questions about website costs

What does a simple website cost?
A lean one-pager or landing page starts at around €1,500 and usually lands between €1,500 and €3,500 depending on design and features. You get an individually built, fast, mobile-optimised site — not an off-the-shelf template.
What does a typical company website cost?
A business website with several subpages (home, services, about, contact, optional blog) usually costs between €3,500 and €8,000. The price is driven mainly by scope, design and extras like forms or booking systems.
Why do prices vary so much?
Because “website” can mean anything — from a single page to a portal with login and shop. The biggest cost factor isn’t the page count, it’s how much is built individually instead of clicked together from a template. That’s why I only quote a binding fixed price after a short intro call.
Website builder or freelancer — what’s worth it?
A builder like Wix or Squarespace costs €10–40 a month, but often looks like a template and is limited on SEO and load time. A freelancer delivers agency quality without agency overhead — for most small and mid-sized companies, the best value.
What does an online shop cost?
A WooCommerce shop starts at around €10,000 and usually lands between €10,000 and €25,000 depending on catalogue size, payment methods and integrations. On top of that come ongoing costs for care and security, which are higher for a shop than for a pure information site.
Are there hidden costs?
No. You get a binding fixed price before we start — no hourly meter. Ongoing costs like domain, hosting and care are stated transparently in the quote. There are no surprises on the invoice.
How does pricing work?
In a short, free intro call we work out what the site needs to do. After that you get a concrete quote with a fixed price. You pay for what you actually need — not for the flat rates others charge.

Let’s talk about your website.
